Grad school can be a drag sometimes. I, like many other students, get into a routine and live life from assignment to assignment. Some people have a better balance of work and play, and it’s something that I’m starting to venture into. It’s freaky to change things up, but I’m really looking forward to spring break next week so I can do something fun! In the meantime, here is what I’ve been up to besides studying.
I’ve been enjoying makeup more these days thanks to beauty vloggers I love (essiebutton and zoella are on my favorites list).
Experimenting with this shirt/jacket hybrid from H&M.
I went on a Barnes and Noble spree yesterday. I want to get back into dedicating time to reading books I’ve been wanting to read for a long time.
I can’t wait to find that balance, to live life and stress less about school. What have you been up to? Any work/life balance tips?

I completely understand about the grad school/life balance. For me, my academic life can easily seep into all other areas of my life.
One tip that’s worked for me is to be kind to yourself – let yourself have guilt-free “free” time. As in, set certain hours to do work, and then allow yourself to indulge in other hobbies and activities outside of that time. Another thing I do is try to study a few times a week with a friend, that way you have some social time and study time and getting out of your house time. (So often I feel cooped up in my apartment, I don’t get out into the “real” world enough). I also have set a regular dinner night with my friends where each week we take turns hosting a Tuesday night dinner. In general, you have to just make non-academic things more of a priority.
Finding balance is something that I’ve been working on a lot in the past few months, so when I think of more advice I will let you know
Thank you so much for that advice! You’re definitely right about scheduling time for both work and play. Whenever I relax, I just stay cooped up in my apartment, and I just feel like I should step outside that bubble more often. In the end, school matters, but it’s always been too much of a priority for me. Thanks again for this!
I love Essie and Zoella too!!
I knew you’d be as obsessed as I am!
